Description:

A condition most often seen in persons with autism, PDA can also be found in the gifted community especially by those with sensory processing issues. It is characterized by 'an overwhelming obsessional need to resist or avoid demands' and can be found in children, teens, and adults. In addition, PDA may often be accompanied by high levels of anxiety and stress but is not Oppositional Defiant Disorder. Gifted persons with PDA, can suffer extreme levels of PDA due to the intense nature of their epigenetics (or sensory input) and are often misunderstood in institutionalized settings (school or work) leading to friction and disruption. Furthermore, typical parenting strategies may not be successful. This webinar will take a closer look at PDA and its impact on daily living requirements for gifted individuals.

You will learn about:

🔸  What exactly is PDA and why is it different from other disorders?
🔸  What does it look like?
🔸  Why is it so debilitating in the gifted population?
🔸  What can I do about it? As a parent? A teacher? As one struggling with PDA?
